The workshop
Every pair starts as a whole hide.
A paper pattern, a whole hide, and a knife. We cut it, skive the edges, stitch it and burnish it by hand, the same way we did in 2005, because we never found a faster way that was also better.
Tiny shoes for big little adventures.
First shoes should feel like almost nothing at all. Soft leather, flexible soles, no stiff toe box, hand-cut in the same workshop as everything else we make.
The leather road
The leather Europe called Moroccan was never only Moroccan.
Most of it was goatskin from Kano, Katsina and Zazzau, tanned in the Hausa cities of what is now northern Nigeria and carried north by caravan to be finished and sold in Fez. A trade route, not a place. We name our work for the cities and roads along it, because that is the tradition we are working inside.

How your order is made
Most of what you buy here does not exist yet.
We are a workshop, not a warehouse. Unless a piece is already finished and on the shelf in Randburg, yours is cut for you once you have ordered it. That is why there is a wait, and it is also why it fits the way it does.

You order
We take your size, your colour and your address, and your pair joins the week’s cutting list.

We cut
A paper pattern goes down on a whole hide and one pair comes off it. Nothing was stamped out in advance.
- 03
We build it
Skived, stitched, soled and burnished by hand at the bench, then checked, because it leaves here with our name on it.
- 04
It reaches you
Boxed and handed to the courier, or put on the counter in Randburg for you to collect free.
7 to 10 working days from your order to your door, and more often than not we are done before that. Anything marked In Stock is already made and leaves the same day, or you collect it free from the Oriental Plaza. We would rather tell you the honest wait than rush a pair that has to last you years.
The atelier

Everything on this site is cut and stitched in our workshop at the Oriental Plaza, and everything we have in stock is on the shelf in front of it. Walk in, try on half a size either way, and watch the next pair being made while you decide. We repair and restore leather shoes and bags here too.
